DTV app is way inferior to other streaming software. Suggest you hire some on the engineers at Netflix.
The latest update broke this app. Almost impossible to log in. Impossible to download shows from DVR to the phone now.
I cant watch one of my favorite shows it says play back error and I cant watch movies and I thought that with the new update this would work but it didnt please fix it.
Love it! Love to play jokes on my girlfriend, changing the channel to the porn area when her parents are there and she has the remote. Its the simple things!!
Having been a DIRECTV user for 17 years, this app is execrable. This is some of the worst programming I have ever seen by "professionals". For instance, the app uses the same exit method to also use as an accept command. In several places it implies the use of a pull down menu, but instead uses a roller choice. Many of the error messages are just outright incorrect; e.g., "not in your package" in place of "not available". On many instances, I find they try to use a dialogue box for input, but then overlay it with a secondary dialogue box asking for the same information. Their chat option connects with ignorant servants, who not only know little about the service, but often just make up reasons to justify their existence, or end the conversation. Their catch phrase is that they are escalating the difficulty.
This June 26, 2017 update is terrible. The app wont even log in. I keep typing in my login but it does nothing and reverts to the blank login screen. When it did login it kept crashing. Tried to click on app support but got the "page not found" error screen. Real nice work, people.
This might be a cool App but I may never know because it is perpetually "Initializing". Ive reset my phone and reinstalled the app several times and it has never worked for me.

Congratulations, DirecTV, youve outdone yourselves with an even worse, less usable version of the app! Now, I cant even log in to attempt to watch a show! Splendid. But seriously. Fix this sh*t.
The latest update is all but unusable. EVERY operation is very slow. From initialization to login to getting the recently watched & Live streaming selections - every step takes 30 seconds or more. What used to take 15 - 20 seconds for the app to start up before streaming could begin is now several minutes. After that, you had better like the show you select because you cannot get back to the channel guide to switch to another. You have to exit the app and start all over. If you can avoid it, do not download this "upgrade".

I love DirecTV service but this app is horrible. How is it even possible for a company this huge to produce something that works so poorly?

Why cant a technology/tv/communication company get its act together. Every time the app is updated something gets broken. Why update when you cant get current functions working?
Remote needs to stay connected in the background
The current version, as of July 26th wont even sign in. It keeps giving me a sign in error when it works perfectly fine on my husbands android phone.
Ive given this app an honest chance. Its terrible. Very confusing UI. The downloading and viewing of recorded programs is clunky and the video quality is horrendous. Dont waste your time with this. Im ready for xfinity.
As expensive as Directv is, this app is a real disappointment. Thought I recorded shows while I was in Europe at a funeral. Came home to nothing. Thanks for wasting my time and money. Edited 6/25/17. Just as bad but now more features that dont work. Shameful service. Changing to something new this summer.
When I enter my login credentials and tap login nothing happens.
