Torture! Slow and Unreliable
Update 7/24/17
They have fixed some of the issues, the phone app starts now and actually functions, slowly. So its up to 2 stars from one now. The viewer is still slow and poorly designed.
The watch app is completely dysfunctional. It only returns "loading program" message.
No one else would dare to put this rubbish in the App Store. Please Google, bring You Tube TV to the rest of the country.

Now the media content apps (HGTV, NBS Sports...) cannot login using DIRECTV as the provider. Their chat support app fails to give the user a keyboard. The incompetence and apathy at AT&T and DIRECTV is overwhelming!

3 years later and they still hate their users! They updated their iPhone app so that it now does nothing. No kidding, nothing! Enter the credentials, and I get the Directv logo, a hot phone with and no battery after 30 minutes. $130 a month for this? By the way, their downloaded content viewer is still terrible.

This app is kind of an afterthought. Recording a show requires a lot of patience. Usually 2 or more tries of 5 minutes each.
Trying to use the playlist "feature" is absolute torture. Playing a downloaded show will make you cry! They have removed the fast forward and reverse controls in favor of a linear scrubbing control that is unresponsive and disappears after 5 seconds. After 3 tries at scrubbing, the app freezes. What have we as DirecTVs customers done to make them hate us so much?
